Career Background

Having completed my degree in 2001, obtaining a 2:1 in Business Studies, I began my career in an academy programme run by Barclays. Here I obtained competent adviser status and completed a number of exams including advanced papers in tax planning and investments.

Following my time at Barclays I worked as a paraplanner in London for 7 years. This experience allowed me to fully understand the full process of giving advice from initial enquiry to implementation and the ongoing review and management of clients.

I returned to the North in 2008 and resumed a client facing role working as an IFA for a chartered firm in Sheffield for three and a half years. This role required me not only to manage and expand my own client base but also support one of the directors in servicing his high net worth client bank.

Following this role, I joined a national firm as a self-employed financial adviser for two years. This firm had extensive links with trade unions and affinity groups which allowed me to further expand on my client base. This move was to be the stepping stone to achieving my dream of becoming a Director in my own firm, JDL Wealth Management Ltd, formerly Grange Court Financial Management LLP, established in July 2013.

I take my on-going professional development very seriously and hold advanced qualifications in the area of pensions, investments, tax planning and financial advice. I achieved chartered status in June 2016 which is currently only held by around 10% of the industry and I believe shows my commitment to the academic aspect of my job and ensures my technical knowledge is of a very high standard.
