Career Background

I embarked on my Financial Services career in 1997 when I worked for Halifax Financial Services. I was provided with extensive training and support from leading industry professionals. I obtained both competent adviser and competent supervisor status within this role.  I went on to complete a number of exams and secured the advanced Financial Planning Certificate, which includes advanced papers within taxation and trust planning, together with both pensions and management and supervision. This was a tied advice offering for their branch customers.

Following my time at the Halifax, I moved to Wesleyan Assurance Society, Medical Sickness, where I worked as a specialist multi tied Financial Consultant for Medical Professionals.  This encompassed both Salaried and Practitioner Doctors, together with Principle and Associate Dentists.  This role required me to obtain specialist appropriate knowledge to ensure I added the most value for my bespoke client base.  It was during my time working with these professionals that it became extremely evident that this level of client needed more sophisticated planning. Thus I decided I needed to move to a company that enabled me to provide fully holistic, independent financial. I trusted a handful of clients and they all agreed that is where they wanted me to be, as they valued me working for them as opposed to a company.  I felt assured immediately that I had made the right decision for both myself and my clients when my managers parting comment was “You were always going to be too thorough for us”.

In 2006 I joined Godfrey Pearson Ltd, who were a small group of 5 directors and a sales force of 50 advisers.  Godfrey Pearson Ltd worked in a specialised market place which encompassed Doctors and Dentists, together with a big representation in the Teachers, Veterinary and Lawyers markets.

My role required me to carry out full independent research, with no restrictions upon the products, plans or funds that could be recommended.  I believe that to give impartial advice to clients in a clear concise way, is of paramount importance.  The clients I specialise with are intelligent people, it is not a case of them not understanding what they should do, but needing someone to intermediate, perform detailed research and duly explain that so they can make a decision based upon the facts.  My open and transparent way of working within this ethical group of people, has been greatly appreciated and successful.  One of my proudest achievements to date is not having to ever look for new clients, I pride myself on my reputation to do the job well and always putting my clients best interest at the fore. This has led to my business expanding purely through personal recommendations.

This final move was to be the stepping stone to achieving my dream of becoming a Director in my own firm, JDL Wealth Management Ltd, formerly Grange Court Financial Management LLP. My trading name being JDL Medical and Financial.

I have long felt that the only way to fully ensure that I can consistently provide the personalised, tailored on-going service I strive for to my clients would be to have full control of the provision and management of that service. I can assure my clients that as a Partner at Grange Court Financial Management, maintaining high standards and continually serving the needs of my clients will always be my main priority.

I also take my on-going professional development very seriously and continue to take exams every year. I held the advanced qualification 11 years before it became compulsory.  I fully intend to take further qualifications in the next few years, in order to become a Chartered Financial Consultant, as is my desire to always lead the way in my industry. Maintaining a high level of technical knowledge and keeping abreast of all economic, regulatory, and taxation, together with any developments within the NHS is of paramount importance to me. This enables me to continue to provide up to date and accurate advice to all my clients, bespoke courses are attended annually to ensure this is achieved on going.
